Research & Writing TTQ Course

DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to help students develop critical writing, thinking, analysis and presentation skills. Students will research topics, summarize sources and organize information. To finalize this process, students will compile their findings into a finished product for presentation. Other skills students will acquire involve the basics of writing, revision, public speaking, MLA Citation and format. Students will also learn to manage academic workloads against deadlines. Class assignments include in-class exercises, free-writes, reading, research, group work, discussion, a pre and post test, and the creation of an educational Web Site that will be submitted for a National Competition. Active participation is required of all students
ASSIGNMENTS & GRADES
Students will complete all weekly assigned work by the end of the week given. Late work will lose points. In-class exercises will focus on each week's materials and activities, as well as, the student's developing research findings.
EVALUATION
Students will be evaluated on participation in class activities, timeliness in turning in assignments, quality of work, conducting research, effort in refining written work and presentation, and progress.
